DLD 150: Two eras ending but plenty of new routes

July 13, 2017

A(nother) loyalty partnership is dying and IATA admits it is slightly less relevant in one area. But plenty of new stuff coming to keep us interested.

  • Alaska Airlines’ MileagePlan and American Airlines’ AAdvantage programs are breaking up. Not nearly as acrimonious as the Alaska/Delta split, but still annoying for customers.
  • Why are YY fares dying? And what are they anyways?
  • Boston is getting new service from Delta that may or may not be dartboard-related.
  • Edelweiss is coming to Denver
  • Norwegian is going everywhere, including new London flights that take on legacies
  • Budapest is getting service to the USA again, and the operator might surprise you

Congratulations on Episode 150 (and also getting sponsored).

I just want to say thank you for keeping up the podcast, and also for all the effort you put into it, week after week.
I also hope you become more vocal in your push for getting more patrons as well.
Any updates on an ETA for the Africa episode with Stefan Krasowski?
How about getting Justin Lancy back on the podcast?
I am looking forward to hear about the 737 MAX flights with Norwegian as well (although I am not geographically located to take advantage of them).

I played the episode of “The Flight Deal” for my friend the other day and he really like it.

    Thanks,
    Travis
