DLD 275: Well-informed opinions

January 17, 2020

This week we took the show on the road to London and stopped in with Michael Traeger of Travel Zork to talk about all sorts of stuff. And, in a strange twist, he insisted on not saying too many controversial things about topics where he was less informed. Truly amazing.

Among the topics:

  • Delta’s fuel dump incident near LAX
  • Boeing‘s bad emails
  • Las Vegas for fun and profit
  • The best oneworld lounge at Heathrow T3 (mostly as an inside joke, but the conversation became useful)

Lots of other stuff in there, too. Most of which I can’t remember any more.

  1. Ahhh…. Kings Cross Station nice cover pic but she is looking unusually tidy , presumably an early morning shot?

Enjoyed the podcast as always Seth (even if I felt like the sober designated driver on this one). I’m not a pedant but I can’t resist correcting you on St Athan, the retirement home for BA’s 747’s and now 777’s. It ain’t “quite close to Heathrow” but is 150 miles west in Cardiff, Wales. St Athan, a former RAF base, is now used for various aviation and non aviation enterprise. Most famously being the home of AvGeek, 747 pilot and Iron Maiden front man Bruce Dickinson’s MRO outfit Caerdav.

    • It was a morning lull, around 10:30a, when I got that shot.

And I guess 150 miles isn’t super close, but everything seems nearby to me in the UK. o_O
